Address: 50 Main Street East, Huntsville
Phone: 705.788.5160

after some busy weeks, we decided to go out-town..
& we went to Deerhurst, Huntsville..
after reviewing on those tourist gudes re where to go for dinner..
we headed to downtown Huntsville & decided to try Aroma..
it's an upscale hotspot in town..

at first, we were seated at the bar area.. as their dining room was already full..
& then, the server brought us a bottle..of water!!
it's actually just tap-water..
we didn't actually need to "pour out" the water ourselves.. the server would come over & refilled for us..

then, we orderd the soup.. Lobster & Roasted Corn Chowder..
& while we were enjoying the soup.. we spot out that a guest was having something which looked very delicious.. so, we ordered it.. ^_^
& it's called "Aroma Shrimp & pineapple Bouquet".. which in fact was.. deep fried in tempura wrapped in bacon; served with spicy marmalade dip.. it tastes really good..

here came the main courses..
originally we wanna order their signature dish "Duck with a honey soy glaze on smashed sweet potatoes".. sadly the server said there weren't many ducks lately.. (??!!)

anyway, here's what we had..
6 oz Certified Augus Beef Tenderloin Filet; served with fresh vegetables, house-made demi glace & Garlic Mash Potatoes
LG said.. it's the most delicious beef that he has ever tasted!!

i ordered the Lobster Linguine.. with Vermouth, spinach and tarragon cream

our dessert was..
Green Tea Geleto Fresco Sorbet
it looked really nice..

they put faux flowers & pedals around the plates for decorations.. nice!

can't believe that we could still go to have jap food after going to TOD.. hee hee..
i guess after all those walking, we could still "afford" to eat big.. :P
so after visiting my cousin's new house, we 6 people went to have dinner together..

i believe it's actually a jap/korean restaurant as they do offer some korean food.. & all those appetizers given were korean..

i haven't been here before so it was my cousins who ordered the food.. & they were all good..

this is Sukiyaki.. thin tender slices of beef, vegetables, tofu & noodle cooked in sukiyaki stock & served with raw egg on top

below is Nabe u-don.. it's japanese style noodle in a deep bowl of broth with green onion, seaweed fish cake & seafood..

Menus below..

p.s. thx my dear cousins for reminding me of the names for the food.. (& bringing me to the restaurant!)

Taste of Danforth

Taste of Danforth
Date: August 13, 2006 (Sunday)
Address: along Danforth Avenue

3 of us went to Taste of Danforth..
i recall that i've been to this festival couple years ago..
however, not much memories thou..
therefore, this time, we decided to take pics to help us remembering the yummy food!!
that was a really sunny day.. which means, very hot.. & crowded.. -_-"

the 1st food we tried is souvlaki.. we got chicken & pork.. (the chicken one tastes better!!)

then, we "discovered" the most yummy calamari that we've never had b4..
not much flour covering the calamari but the taste still very good..
& it's found in a chinese restaurant..
(just never thought that u can have such good calamari in these kind of restaurant..)

below r some info:
Taste of the Silk Road
(341 Danforth Avenue)
416.463.8660

there was a note posting on their booth.. saying that their famous calamari has been featured on Food Channel.. WOW..

here were the oysters guys..
they opened the oysters right when u ordered..
at first we wondered if that will be "cleaned" enough..
seems like it's not that bad.. (at least we didn't get sick afterwards..)
& they gave us a bonus.. one more oyster!!

then, we tried a very yummy ice-bar..
it's korean food (we guess)..
with different flavours.. melon, banana, strawberry..
it's very refreshing, yet not too sweet..
we should go check out those korean supermarkets & see if they r selling this..

these were Messini Authentic Gyros..

i believe we did enough exercises that afternoon.. :P
we were very hot & full when we left & we went to 7-Eleven for some icy-drink..
Good day!

Kiyomizu Japanese Restaurant 清水
Date: August 12, 2006 (Saturday)
Address: 41 Spring Garden Avenue, North York (Yonge & Sheppard)
Phone: 416.223.8807

my cousin suggests this restaurant to us so we decided to give it a try.. our family (7 of us) dined there before we went to the Chinese Latern Festival @ Ontario Place..

first of all, the server brought us some appetizers.. Edamame, Salad, Soup, the noodles.. all free..

& we ordered the Vegetable Tempura.. while the server brought us the Agedashi Tofu, which were on the host too.. yummy!

then we had Uni Handrolls, & a Sushi & Sashimi Boat..
the Uni was very fresh & fat!! Sashimi for sure was fresh too..

we also had 2 special rolls.. one is called Kiyomizu Roll, which has Unagi, Salmon, Crabmeat, Masago, Shrimp Tempura, and Avocado.. with all these ingredients, this one tasted very good..
the other one is Tiger Eye Roll, that is Tuna, Tobico, Cream Cheese, with Salmon on top..
it's the 1st time i ate sushi with Cream Cheese in it.. it tasted weird (for me!) while my cousin likes it sooo much (of coz she likes Cream Cheese!)

their menus for the speical rolls.. with pictures on it..

with all these food, the bill came up to be $136.23.. i think it worths as the sashimi was really fresh & in good portion..

oh, there is a note posted on the entrance saying that there are parking @ rear available for customers..
& it said u can park ANYWHERE after 6pm, all day for weekend & holiday..

let's get started..

it has been a while since i wanna start posting up pics/comments about different restaurants & food..
i've learned of some good restaurants in Toronto from others' blog..
(thx: torontofoodies.com, www.carbonxiv.com)
thought that maybe i can start one myself to share what i think it's good too..
& in fact, i like to keep record of everything.. just too lazy to get things organized..
actually, i've been posting up pics with captions on kodakgallery..
just hope that if by any chance my friends or i wanna try out restaurants..
this can help to refresh our memories a bit..

& it's a good timing to start as i'm not busy at work lately.. shhhh!!

NOTE: all written here r just PERSONAL opinions.. =P

Phone: 416.488.0822
Opening Hours: Sun-Thu 12pm-11pmFri-Sat 12pm-12am

one of our friends said it's always very crowded here & yes, it seemed so..
we were meeting our HK friend & after waiting for a while, we finally could get a table..

unfortunately we didn't bring our DC so couldn't take any pics..
but here's what i remember..

we've ordered the followings:
Caesar Salad $5.50
Mushroom Parade Soup
Peppino Pizza $12.25
(Tomato Sauce, mozzarella, Italian sausage & sundried tomatoes)
Special Pasta - Seafood Linguini
(Linguini with shrimp, mussels, calamari, chicken)
Tasca Pasta $13.25
(Fresh pasto filled with ricotta, spinach, mushrooms & brie baked in a creamy tomato porcini sauce)

it was kinda "noisy" inside the restaurant.. maybe coz there's a bar in it..
but the food was good overall except the soup was a bit salty..
