12 Days Greek Isles Cruise - Day 7 Mykonos

Date: November 15, 2007 (Thursday)
Place: Mykonos, Greece (米克諾斯, 希臘)
Day 7

it was a very sunny day & we didn't even need to wear jacket..
& in fact, it's the best day of our trip.. it's the 1st day that we could finally relax & enjoy.. (with our luggages back)..

Mykonos is a really nice island.. we called it 「米奇老鼠」島.. it's very easy to walk around.. it used to be very cosmopolitan & to attract very wealthy tourist & celebrities from all over the world..
Hora.. Town of Mykonos

the water was so clear..

Fresh Vegetables @ Hora's Market.. people were selling very BIG veggies..

here's Petros the Pelican.. they could be found at the waterfront..
originally the pelican was found after a storm back in the 1950s.. after Petros died he was so popular that a new pelican was introduced as a successor.. now there are two pelicans inhabiting the island, who can sometimes be found up in the town as well as at the port..

it's very big in size..

Mykonos is also an island with beautiful landscapes, picturesque white painted villages, hundreds of little churches, windmills & some of the most extraordinary golden sandy beaches in the Cyclades..

Church of Panaghia Paraportiani
it actually consists of four little ground churches(Aghios Sozontas, Aghii Anargyri, Aghia Anastasia, and Aghios Efstathios) around the main church, amalgamated in a beautiful white, asymmetrical building..

Little Venice.. located in Chora..
buildings have been constructed right on the sea's edge with their balconies overhanging the water..

The Windmills.. the landmark of Mykonos..
the windmills are the quintessential features of Mykonos’ landscape.. there are plenty of them that have become a part & parcel of Mykonos.. from a distance one can easily figure out the windmills, courtesy of their silhouette..

the windmills are conspicuous by their snow-white color, spherical shape with the customary pointed roof made of the finest variety of wood.. in the good old days, they were wind operated as Mykonos is renowned for their gusty wind, which continues to blow even today..

school kids in Mykonos..

Square of the Three Wells
it's local legend has it that unmarried girls should drink from each of the three, in order to find the right husband..

Mykonos is a traditional Cycladic village, with white cubic houses with blue wooden doors & windows, brightly coloured balconies & fuchsia bougainvilleas growing on the white walls..

Lunch @ Madoupas in Waterfront Mykonos

we decided to try their local drinks.. Greek Coffee & Mythos (Greek Beer)
..the Greek Coffee tasted very bitter, it's like an espresso.. very concentrated.. & the Greek Beer was also bitter comparing to the regular Beer..

(right) Fish roe salad - 3.5 Euros
..it's a local Greek cuisine.. but it's very salty..

Fried Calamari - 9 Euros
..it's one of the signature dishes & it tasted good..

Day 7 Dinner @ Sabatini's Italian Restaurant

we heard that the food here was excellent so we decided to pay the extra $$ to try..
the waiter gave us the menu to look at.. with lots of items under each course.. but the only thing we needed to choose was the main course.. coz we would be given ALL the other items (on the menu), in a smaller portion.. it's like menu-tasting, which u can try a bit of everything..
