it's a not-so-pleasant lunch..
we arrived there at ~12pm.. ordered the following dim sum + 黃金流沙包..
all 點心 $2 each..

(left) 安蝦咸水角 Deep Dried Glutinous Dumplings
..this was the 1st one to arrive.. but 翻炸的!! we tried to use our chopsticks to put thru the 咸水角 but couldn't!!
(right) 蝦餃 Steamed Crystal Shrimp Dumplings
..no good at all..

(left) 豉汁鳳瓜 Steamed Chicken Claw in Special Sauce
(right) 蝦醬鮮魷 Squid with Shrimp Paste

(left) 街坊芝麻腸 Steamed Rice Noodle Rolls with Peanut & Seafood Sauce
(right) 皮蛋瘦肉粥 Preserved Egg & Minced Pork Congee

the food were below average..

& now back to the 黃金流沙包 Steamed Buns Stuffed with Thick Milk..
we have waited for an hr & it still hasn't come.. so we asked the waitress to check for us.. another 15 mins went by & still nothing.. when we asked the waitress again, she said they were now making for us.. i was like, "what?! aren't u supposed to make it when we ordered it at 12pm?!" but anyway, we waited for another 5 mins & it finally arrived.. BUT not to us.. the waitress put it down at the table next to us.. & the customers from the other table noticed that it wasn't their order.. however, the woman said, "it's not our order, but i'm ok with this".. & then started eating the 流沙包!!!

what a meal!!

I totally agree with you that the food here is horrible.

The manager told me that the owner of 敦煌閣 was the chef of the upscale 敦煌 in Times Square.

I know it's now $2 per dish instead of $4+, but the quality is a big step back...

i heard about that too.. friends went there for dinner & said the food was not bad.. that's y we came to try their dim sum.. but sadly.. their dim sum were very disappointing..

hi, i couldn't help noticing your review. i'm actually a friend of the owner's. i can maybe accredit your incidence with the food being terrible to the fact that the cook from 敦煌 / owner is not actually always there to cook and they do have a second chef.. so I do urge you to try again if you like. They have some new dimsum items on the menu now. This one is one of my favourites

it is a mini red bean pastry and it is absolutely delicious.. but have it hot and after everything.
